I’m Jodi - a seasoned researcher, teacher, artist, change practitioner, and coach!

I partner with early years communities to design programs that wholly support young children and their beloved adults, with focus on
• vital relationships (with self, others, ideas, materials, tools, places, experiences, possibilities)
• emergent curriculum that is skill-based, playful, and contextually meaningful
• rich, inclusive environments that feel good
• moment-to-moment practices that contribute to desired outcomes

I approach this work with reverent focus on the strengths and resources available within each context. A tool that helps me deepen awareness is A/V Documentation (audio/visual — photos, videos, sound recordings).

Clarify Understanding

I teach teachers to use A/V Documentation as a mirror (reflection) and a window (opening) to notice and integrate distinct possibilities in partnering with children. Sounds and sights help adults more authentically attune to the real feel of the room so they can better partner with children.

See Through Children’s Eyes & Expressions

I show teachers how to teach children to use digital point-and-shoot cameras and recording devices to contribute their own unique perspectives on design and on-going decisions about learning (and living!). Shared Mediums = Shared Power
